December 27, 2001
I received the data cable for my phone on Monday. I'm happy with it,
though it would have been nicer to receive it a few weeks earlier. We saw
Lord of the Rings last night. I wasn't overly impressed. It was very
long, and not particularly interesting. I assume it's better for people
who have read the book, or for those who like fantasy movies. I've been
shopping today, for shirts, shorts, and CDs.
The only thing I didn't get
was pants, the ones I liked were either overpriced or not available in my
size. Bah! And tonight I saw Monsters, Inc which takes me to 52
movies for the year. Hooray!

My last day of work for the year, and a very enjoyable one as well. I got
a decent bit of work done in the morning, we had cake at 10:30, photos at
11:30, went down to the Captain Stirling at 12:00, and stayed there for
the rest of day.
Mobile Extras still haven't
delivered the data cable for
my phone, it's been three weeks so far. I called them up and complained
about it this morning. Blueskyfrog
sent me SMS spam this evening. I was
not pleased at all, and I wrote them a quick email letting them know all
about my displeasure. They have also been added to the
blacklist. I've
updated the list of movies with
last night's effort, and I've finally
written something about Morris.
December 18, 2001
Added a couple of new CDs to the
music page. I thought about putting up
a DVDs page, and I even started writing it, but I didn't get very far
before I was destracted by other things.
Kuro5hin is back online, after
an absence of almost a month. Hooray! And now I'm going to watch
The Bill.

The work Christmas party was last night. Today I'm feeling
munted. I find it
a bit weird that people at work know about harshbutfair even though I didn't
tell them. What's up with that? They are probably just
crazy sickos who
stumbled upon harshbutfair accidentally. So far we have 780 registrations
for WALAN, which means there are only
20 places remaining. I've updated the
movies page with this week's movie,
bringing my total to 49 for the year.
Must see three more. Added Mentos to the
blacklist for being made in China.
Added bits-o-pig to the hardware page.

We've started planning for the next WALAN, and with a capacity of 800 people
it should be the biggest LAN ever held in Australia. I've been told that the
links page looks really bad under Netscape. If
Netscape wasn't so stupid in deciding how to render it, I might be able to
work out how to fix it. I'll probably take another look later. There's an
excellent
interview with Scott Raynor at AbsolutePunk. Scott was
Blink 182's
drummer before they sold out. Finally, I've hacked up a network monitor
called snm (pronounce it like S&M, it sounds better). Currently it just
uses the output of arpwatch to determine what hosts to scan with
nmap and
then displays nice output in HTML. Maybe I'll add more features later.

I miss Kuro5hin a lot. I'm reading
Slashdot more to try to compensate,
but it isn't really working. I've added the new
Life Without Buildings
single to the music page, Harry Potter to
the movies page, and I've
finally remembered to add Austin
Computers to the blacklist for
crimes against humanity.
