I've seen three more
movies this week, giving seven
for the month and
fifteen for the year so far. Not a bad effort. I wanted to see
O tonight, but it's showing at a total of two cinemas in the
whole of Perth. I'm not impressed. But we saw
Kung Pow: Enter the Fist instead. The guys who made it took a
dodgy 1976 kung foo movie, dubbed it, and added lots of extra bits and
came up with something original, funny, and yet incredibly silly. I
liked it!

I was playing with LandOnline
at work on Friday, it gives satellite
photos of Western Australia. Very impressive. Here's a satellite
picture of my high school. Click the image to see more detail.
Yesterday I was trying to do some family history research, which is
difficult given the common names in my family. I did find a brief
description of a pub belonging to my great-great-grandparents (from
Gloucestershire Pubs).
The White Lion was on the corner of Alvin Street and Sherborne Street. The address is given as 38 Alvin Street in the 1919 Kellys Directory and 38-40 Alvin Street in a 1957 reference. The White Lion was referred to the compensation authority in February 1919 but obviously survived the recommendation for closure. The White Lion was eventually demolished when the Alvin Street and 'Clapham' district of Gloucester was redeveloped.

Two movies so far this week, and
another one tomorrow. And thus all
is good in the world. And in four weeks from today I will be on
holiday, probably busy packing, but on holiday nonetheless.
I almost bought an As Seen in Porn
tshirt this evening from
t-shirtsthatsuck.com. Those
guys have some
cool shirts, and they don't charge US$20 postage! Others could learn
from this. Note that this means you,
thinkgeek and
cafepress.

This morning on Triple J breakfast,
Adam Spencer used the phrase harsh, but essentially fair in
conversation with Professor Wil. If that doesn't bring more visitors to
harshbutfair.org, I don't know what will.

Keen observers will note that it's now half-way through February and
I'm still not in Sydney. You can tell I'm not in Sydney because I'm
still posting updates. Maybe I'll go next week. Or the week after.
Hmmm... all this makes making plans very difficult. But I have planned
as far as the weekend, unfortunately the plan at this stage involves
paying $35 for three games of bowling. Yes, that is more than a little
excessive. It's all because I'm honest. Which reminds me... I intend
to put a bowling page on here at some point in the near future. Just
thought I'd mention it to give you all something to look forward to.

Yesterday was the first Thursday since November last year that I haven't
seen a movie. Eight marvelous pike-free weeks. But now it's come to an
end, since other people were seeing Spy Game, which I saw last week. I
definately didn't want to see it twice. Instead I watched Empire Records
with Cam and Tiff on DVD. The proper bowling season restarted on
Wednesday, and I had a reasonable first night with a good game, a bad
game, and an average game. I might put up a bowling page in a couple of
weeks, or I might not. I haven't decided yet. What I have done is
archived the old front page stuff, so now you
can go back as far as December 2001! Woot!

Tonight I've been MP3ising the
Life Without Buildings
set from Live at the Wireless last
night. It was an excellent set, in particular the
eight minute version of New Town that they played at the end. I didn't
do much this weekend, I went to a 21st on Friday which was OK but
nothing spectacular. On Saturday I hung around feeling bored, then on
Sunday I had lunch with Mum and played tennis in the afternoon. Daz and
I have been having some great games recently, last week it was 7-6 5-7
and this week was 7-5 5-7. I have a feeling that today is something
special, but I have no idea why. Maybe it's somebody's birthday. I hope
it wasn't anyone important that I've forgotten.
